Refund Policy
Last updated: February 2025. This policy describes how Serva ("we", "us", "our") handles refunds for payments made through our platform. Please read this together with our Terms of Service.
1. Scope and current services
No payment for orders or deposits at launch. We do not currently process payments for customer orders or reservation deposits on the platform. There are therefore no order or deposit refunds to request from us at this time. Any payment for food, drinks, or reservations is made directly with the restaurant (e.g. in person or via their own payment methods); refunds for those transactions are handled by the restaurant according to their own policy.
This policy applies to payments that you make to Serva (e.g. subscription fees once we offer paid plans, or reservation deposits processed by us if we introduce that feature). When we enable such payments, the sections below will govern refund eligibility and process.
2. Subscription refunds
When we offer paid subscription plans, the following will apply:
- Trial period: If you are in a free trial, you may cancel before the trial ends with no charge. We do not refund trial periods.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not typically refund the unused portion of a period already paid, unless required by law or stated in a specific offer.
- Billing errors: If you were charged in error (e.g. duplicate charge, wrong amount), we will refund the erroneous amount once we confirm the error.
- Service failure: If we discontinue the Service or a material feature during a period you have paid for, we may offer a prorated refund for the unused portion at our discretion or as required by law.
3. Reservation deposits (when applicable)
If we introduce reservation deposits paid through our platform, the following will apply unless a restaurant has set a different policy that we display at checkout:
- Cancellation by you: Refunds for cancelled reservations may depend on how far in advance you cancel (e.g. full refund if cancelled within the restaurant's stated window; partial or no refund for late cancellation). The exact policy will be shown when you book.
- No-show: Deposits are typically non-refundable if you do not show up and do not cancel in time.
- Cancellation by the restaurant: If the restaurant cancels your reservation (e.g. closure, overbooking), we will refund the deposit in full to the original payment method.
4. How to request a refund
To request a refund for a payment you made to Serva:
- Contact us via our contact form or the email address on our website.
- Include your account email, the date and amount of the charge, and the reason for your request.
- We will respond within a reasonable time (typically within 14 business days) and will process eligible refunds to the original payment method where possible.
Refunds may take additional time to appear on your statement depending on your bank or card issuer.
5. Eligibility and exclusions
Refunds are only available for payments made directly to Serva through our official payment channels. We do not refund:
- Payments made to restaurants (e.g. in-person or via the restaurant's own payment link); those are subject to the restaurant's refund policy.
- Charges that we reasonably determine were made in violation of our Terms of Service or as a result of fraud or abuse.
- Refund requests made long after the charge (e.g. beyond the period required by law or our stated deadline, if any).
6. Disputes and chargebacks
If you believe a charge was wrong, please contact us first so we can resolve it. Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting us may result in suspension of your account while we investigate. We will provide relevant information to your bank or card issuer if they request it. Successful chargebacks may lead to reversal of the payment and closure of your account where appropriate.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Continued use of paid features after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law. For existing purchases, the policy in effect at the time of purchase may apply to that purchase.
